Inhabitable Spaces

South London Gallery

June/July 2014

Commissioned to take part in a ‘mini-residency’ for Play Local, I’ve devised a series of  workshops working with young people from local estates close to South London Gallery in London’s borough of Peckham.

I’ll be exploring individual connections with our physical built environments and our interrelations with each other through a series of play orientated activities that facilitates immersive engagement and links the permeable/impermeable body to emotion and external architecture.

Inhabitable Spaces is part of SLG’s award-winning education programmes offering exceptional opportunities for visitors of all ages and levels of interest and to become more actively involved in contemporary art through a broad range of activities and events, artist-led projects and longer-term programmes. It’s interesting for me how they have framed this  as a mini-residency for me and how this project interweaves with the rest of my practice and my response in relation to this framework.

More image, observations and thoughts coming soon.
