I’ll be giving a talk on some of my projects relating to anxiety to trauma followed by discussion with Hagit Yakira, Israeli choreographer and trained dramaturg Beccy Smith. 

I’ll be exploring some of the recent themes in my projects such as Amongst Dark Trees, A Clearing and considering issues linked to creativity and self-expression, self-discovery and emotional growth, and how art can bridge connections between our inner emotional landscape and the audience it encounters across distinctly different arts forms and approaches.

Kai-Oi Joyce Yung  Interdisciplinary Artist, Education Programmer & Facilitator

Yung’s sculptures to large scale multi-sensory video installations intersect technology, participation and psychological environments; examining nations, identities and politics through performance and enactment of making. Exhibitions include Amongst Dark Trees, A Clearing, Grundy Art Gallery,Shadow Dance, The Bluecoat, Interval; A Narrative Psychosis, Cornerhouse,Military Craft, Guangzhou Live, and Image Wars, Abrons Art Centre, New York. Her critical writing, lecturing and education leadership includes Tate, City University, Hong Kong to Arts Council England. Awards include Paul Hamlyn Foundation and Courvoisier Future 500. 

Beyond the Couch examines the relationship between mental health, creativity and the arts through workshops, performances, film screenings from Anxiety Festival, discussion.
