Tate: Treasures Project

Tate Treasures

Liverpool European Capital of Culture, Opening Ceremony, St George’s Hall, 2007

As Inclusion and Learning officer at Tate I was commissioned to lead workshops for Treasures, a mass participation project that invited individuals resident across Liverpool to create their own personal treasure box, celebrating the city’s cultural identity. The workshop was devised for adult group Rotunda and  learning difficulties group MOWLL.

A film was also created as a tool to inspire and promote participation across the city, sent to schools and community groups.

Treasures is the over-arching theme of the opening ceremony for 2008 and was central to the opening ceremony followed by an exhibition of the treasure chests exhibited in St Georges Hall.  Over 400 people took part in the project.
