Future Confessional

‘Wave If You’re Really Here: Future’, St Bride’s Church, Liverpool

This new live art commission saw me inviting unsuspecting visitor into the intimate confines of my ‘Future Confessional’ booth. In the setting of St Bride’s Church, I adopted my own interpretative role of mystic/savant, on offer for those who enter will be a personal experience of self-revelatory self-improvement, understanding, absolution and confessional.

As Madame and Monsieur Jouissance, in this live interactionary scenario, I explore our yearning and subconscious desire for spiritual well being and understanding of personal life journey. Extending my Slap/Kiss Berlin performance ‘Checkpoint’, I deploy absurd means to tap into our subconscious, with search for knowledge and intuition as divining tools. From Cosmopolitan quiz to Dingbat deciphering, I-Ching reading and 8 ball truth, prophecy from me involved a certain degree of game play, trust and chance. Self-help through absurd action replaces any cathartic release, though this too locates a certain self confrontation through the participants response to the unexpected self understanding.
